The 2025 Mazda3 competes in the small car category with a choice of two body styles, two powertrains and even available AWD. It represents the fourth-generation model that was introduced for the 2020 model year.
2025 Mazda3 Changes and Updates
For the 2025 model year, the Mazda3 gets some changes, after receiving updates during the prior model year. The following list of features has trickled down from the GS trim level to the GX:
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function
- Smart City Brake Support Front
- Distance and Speed Alert
- Smart Brake Support Front
- Forward Sensing Pedestrian Detection
- Distance Recognition Support System
- Forward Obstruction Warning
- Lane-keep Assist System
- Lane Departure Warning System
- High Beam Control System
- Driver Attention Alert
- Overhead console with sunglass holder
The GS variant gets the Mazda Connect infotainment system with 10.25-inch display, the touchscreen capability for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and the navigation-ready software (an accessory SD card is required), which were all previously part of the GS Luxury Package. The latter now rounds up wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and wireless phone charging, previously available only on the GT and up.
Meanwhile, the Mazda3 GT receives Alexa Built-in functionality and Mazda Online Navigation, while the alloy wheel finish changes from Light Gray High Lustre to Silver Metallic. The GT Turbo variant gets a Black Signature Wing, while the Garnet Red interior is now exclusive to the GT Turbo.
Finally, Private eCall and Stolen Vehicle Assistance have been added to all trim levels, two features that can connect the vehicle to an emergency call centre as needed. A two-year trial is included, after which owners must purchase a subscription to keep the service activated.
2025 Mazda3 Trim Levels and Pricing
The 2025 Mazda3 is offered in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback body styles, the latter being designated as the Mazda3 Sport. They’re both available in GX, GS, GT and GT Turbo trim levels, while the Sport also gets the range-topping Suna Edition.
GX, GS and GT trims are equipped with a naturally aspirated, 2.5L inline-four that develops 191 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The five-door GT can also be specified with a six-speed manual transmission, the only remaining configuration with a clutch pedal. An all-wheel drivetrain is optional on GS and GT trims.
Meanwhile, the GT Turbo and the Suna Edition get a turbocharged 2.5L four that develops 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with regular fuel, or 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet with 93-octane juice. AWD is mandatory with the turbo engine.

2025 Mazda3 Warranty Coverage
In Canada, the 2025 Mazda3 is covered by a 3-year/unlimited km Comprehensive Limited Warranty and a 5-year/unlimited km Powertrain Limited Warranty. In addition, the Mazda3 is backed by a 7-year/unlimited km Rust Perforation Limited Warranty.

What the 2025 Mazda3 Does Well
- The Mazda3 is immensely fun to drive. With at least 191 horsepower on tap, performance is strong. The brand’s sporty DNA is baked into the car, and has been since the nameplate was introduced in 2004.
- Interior fit and finish is a cut above the rest of the segment. The brand has skilfully designed and crafted a cabin that wouldn’t look out of place in a vehicle sold by a luxury brand.
- The Mazda3 is a safe car, especially this year, as every trim level is fitted with a comprehensive list of advanced safety features.
- Unlike most of its rivals in small car segment, the Mazda3 can be equipped with all-wheel drive. And Mazda’s i-Activ system is quite competent during winter driving as it can shift available torque from the front wheels to the rear ones as needed, in a matter of milliseconds, while the system scans for wheel slippage 200 times per second.
What the 2025 Mazda3 Doesn’t Do Well
- If we’re claustrophobic, the Mazda3 might not be our best choice. The low roofline, tiny window surfaces and fat rear pillars (in the case of the five-door Mazda3 Sport) make the cabin feel cramped while creating notable blind spots.
- Interior space also isn’t great. Rear-seat passengers don’t get much legroom, which has been a Mazda3 trademark since day one.
- The Mazda Connect infotainment system includes console-mounted rotary dial and its interface has been designed to be ergonomic and as least distracting as possible while driving. That said, the center screen isn’t touch-sensitive, except when we choose the 10.25-inch display, only when we use Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and only when the vehicle is stopped. That limits phone projection use, which may not please everybody.
- Fuel economy isn’t the best in the small car segment. It has improved in recent years, though. There are also no hybrid available powertrains, as opposed to some rivals such as the Honda Civic, the Hyundai Elantra and the Toyota Corolla.
2025 Mazda3 Competition
