The redesigned Mercedes-Benz GLE is the latest model from the German automaker to get the AMG 53 turbo 3.0-liter powertrain.
Combined with the EQ Boost 48-volt starter-alternator system that helps power various functions during a normal drive, the engine also available in the E 53 AMG and AMG CLS 53 will give the brand-new 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.
Paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, the engine will rocket the GLE 53 AMG to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. That’s about 0,5 seconds faster than the previous GLE 43 AMG.
Set to officially debut at the Geneva Auto Show next week, the new 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 will also include an AMG exhaust sure to be sufficiently loud, 20-inch wheels and a variety of driving modes including Slippery, Sand and Sport+. Yup, the GLE 53 AMG works on the beach or on a track.
We haven’t seen the redesigned Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 yet, but the 53 is sure to be the bridge between that monster and the GLE 450 which will be the first to arrive in dealerships.
The 2020 GLE was redesigned from the wheels up this year with a host of new features, a new design, more tech, and more space. The previous GLE was getting old, this one is all new.
Features include the new MBUX infotainment system (also found in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class) with advance voice commands and AI, M-B’s E-Active Body Control to improve both off-road capabilities and on-road comfort, and a new interior that looks as luxurious and elegant as every other new Mercedes-Benz model introduced in the last two years.
The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 will arrive in dealerships late this year.
