Mercedes-Benz has wasted no time to introduce its impressive array of all-new fully-electric EQ vehicles. From the most recent EQA, to the flagship EQS luxury sedan, all are loaded with technology and promise to supplant all other EVs in their respective segments. One element was missing until now and that was an AMG version.
Following the reveal of the compact new EQA last month, Markus Schäfer, Mercedes-Benz COO, confirmed to Autocar that “an electrical platform in the direction of AMG is coming”. He continued by adding that there will be AMG versions of the EQA, B, S and E.
There are no details for the moment as to power, layout, or any other details however a twin-motor AWD setup will be a minimum. If AMG is to compete with the likes of Audi and Tesla, 600 horsepower will be a starting point for the larger EQS sedan and EQE SUV. Let’s not forget that Benz’s neighbours in Stuttgart have a Taycan Turbo with 670 horsepower and a Turbo S with 750 horsepower.
No timeline was shared however we can’t imagine that AMG will waste much time preparing the vehicles.
