Puzzling teasers show what looks like a toy G-Class
Merc talks about artwork and transforming luxury
Mercedes-Benz is teasing some sort of strange-looking G-Glass on social media, but we have to admit that even by teaser standards, this one has us confused.
Posted to Facebook, along with four photos, the caption reads “coming soon… #thenewluxury.” Then it’s tagged with Daimler design boss Gorden Wagener, #MBxVA, and fashion designer Virgil Abloh.

The chunky AMG monoblock wheel and bright-yellow badged Mercedes-Benz tire has us intrigued, as does a speedometer that goes to 300 km/h (marked “Fast” once you get above 250), and a grille that looks a bit plasticky. And by that we don’t mean cheap, we mean that it looks like it’s bare plastic, possibly a scale model based on the appearance of the seams.
In previous posts, Mercedes-Benz calls it “something never before seen in either of our fields,” showing a long look down the fender of another G-Class. An even older video shows a worker welding inside the chassis of what seems to be a G-Wagon and touting the collaboration as “transforming luxury.”
Mercedes-Benz talks about artwork, so they could be making a model of a car or a full-size vehicle that looks like a toy, but whatever the plan is, we’re curious. The actual project is set to premiere September 8th, online (of course). We’ll be watching.
