Mercedes-Benz Canada is set to delight automotive enthusiasts with the introduction of the highly anticipated 2024 GLE 450e 4MATIC SUV, the latest plug-in hybrid offering. Joining the lineup in Q4 2023, this electrified model will supplement the existing GLE range, which includes the GLE 350 4MATIC, GLE 450 4MATIC, Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ SUV, and Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ SUV.
Robust Performance Melds with Smart Technology
The GLE 450e 4MATIC promises a dynamic driving experience, equipped with a 134 hp permanently excited synchronous motor. The SUV intelligently adapts to different driving conditions, prioritizing electric power during city driving and is also capable of handling off-road terrains with electric propulsion.
Luxury, Customization, and the Future of Electrification
The new model mirrors the GLE 450 4MATIC SUV in terms of luxury offerings. The GLE 450e 4MATIC comes standard with significant upgrades, including a new multifunction steering wheel with capacitive controls, the second-generation Mercedes MBUX infotainment interface with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an enhanced Burmester Surround Sound System, and various comfort features.
The GLE 450e 4MATIC is available in three trim levels: Premium, Exclusive, and Pinnacle. Additionally, customization is at the heart of this offering, with a plethora of selectable packages, AMG Line for the interior and exterior and the Night package for the exterior. This flexibility extends to choices in wheels, paint, and upholstery.
The introduction of the GLE 450e 4MATIC underscores Mercedes-Benz Canada’s commitment to electrification. Following the 2023 S 580e Sedan, this new model marks the second plug-in hybrid vehicle in the lineup. The GLE’s lineage traces back to the M-Class, the vehicle that established the premium SUV segment in 1997 and is produced at the extensively modernized Tuscaloosa plant in the USA.
In terms of performance figures, the GLE 450e 4MATIC boasts a combined system output of 381 hp, system torque of 479 lb-ft, high-voltage battery capacity of 23.3 kWh, a top speed of 210 km/h, and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The electric range is yet to be announced.
