The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system has been touted by many as one of the most advanced setups of its kind since it was introduced about three years ago. Benz was certainly not sitting on its laurels all this time as they’ve just introduced the massive Hyperscreen.
The total area covered by the Hyperscreen spans an incredible 56 inches of curved glass, handily dwarfing the new Cadillac Escalade’s equally curved 38-inch OLED display. The setup bundles the driver’s instrument display, a central infotainment that automatically defaults to a huge map, and finally, a display for the front passenger. The latter only “works” when a passenger is detected in the seat otherwise shows a nebula full of three-pointed stars.
Impressive though the digital dashboard may be, we really appreciate how Benz integrated the vents into the glass surface. Speaking of the glass surface, it is designed to break in specific areas at either end and mounting points in between in the event of an accident.
The MBUX system relies on artificial intelligence to enhance cabin comfort and convenience. For example, the technology can learn from regular phone calls made in specific areas times. Eventually, it will suggest making the phone call as a courtesy.
The new Hyperscreen will debut in the EQS family of EVs and more than likely find its way into other models before long.
