Mercedes-Benz Unveils the New EQV and V-Class

As stated in May of 2023, versions of the Mercedes-Benz EQV and V-Class are coming to North America

Mercedes-Benz is moving forward into the premium light commercial vehicle arena with its latest unveiling of the new EQV and V-Class models. As part of the rollout of the pioneering Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA for short), these vehicles are already available for order in some markets and will eventually make their way to the US and Canada.

The introduction of these models by Mercedes-Benz Vans will help bolster its presence in the electric vehicle segments. The brand has outlined plans to significantly boost its sales figures by 2030 in the U.S. and Canada, expanding its portfolio with VAN.EA-based commercial vans. A notable first for the company will be the launch of a midsize luxury van aimed at private customers.

Both the EQV and the V-Class will raise the bar in the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segments with a focus on luxury, digital connectivity, and enhanced driver assistance features. These models will cater to a wide range of customers, from families to business professionals.

For the moment, no details on trims or powertrains have been shared for North America. The following information is limited to the European and Asian markets, for now.

Europe and Asia have traditionally been strong markets for Mercedes-Benz MPVs, thanks to their spacious interiors, high comfort levels, and distinctive designs. The latest iterations of the EQV and V-Class continue this legacy, offering even more customization options and equipment lines, including the AVANTGARDE, STYLE, EXCLUSIVE, and various design packages, to cater to diverse customer tastes.

The exterior design of the new models features a refreshed front design with a striking radiator grille and a powerfully defined bumper, enhancing their visual appeal. The interior has also seen significant upgrades and include noteworthy elements such as the pair of 12.3-inch widescreen displays, stylish air vents, and a new-generation steering wheel.

The MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system remains a cornerstone of the MPV’s digital offering, providing an interactive and personalized user experience. With advanced navigation features, augmented reality, and the voice-activated “Hey Mercedes” assistant, the system offers unparalleled convenience and connectivity.

Mercedes-Benz is also fitting the EQV and V-Class with an array of digital services aimed at enhancing the overall ownership experience. These services range from remote vehicle management through the Mercedes me app to comprehensive navigation solutions and access to one of Europe’s largest public charging networks for the EQV.

The Mercedes-Benz EQV offers two battery options: 90 kWh and 60 kWh, delivering up to 204 hp and a range of 277-365 km, with efficient energy recovery and thermal management enhancing its efficiency. It supports AC and DC charging, with a fast charge time of approximately 40 minutes from 10% to 80% battery capacity.

The V-Class is available with a diesel OM654 engine in three power outputs (163 hp, 190 hp, 237 hp) and a new M254 petrol mild hybrid engine with 231 hp will be introduced in 2024, aimed at markets including Europe and Asia. All models feature the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive standard for combustion engines, optional all-wheel drive for diesels, and front-wheel drive for electric models.
