2024 model houses a powerful AMG 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine, clocking 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
Kicking off Pebble Beach Automotive Week, Mercedes-Benz USA has taken the wraps off the 2024 Mercedes-AMG SL 63 MANUFAKTUR Big Sur. Exclusively reserved for U.S. clientele, this limited-edition model is set to grace the public from August 17-19 at the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge in Pebble Beach, CA.
This special edition doesn’t just carry a unique name but is a testament to craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. The MANUFAKTUR program ensures heightened individuality and exclusivity by offering distinct colours and finishes. The Big Sur, taking its name from the majestic Pacific Coast, showcases the MANUFAKTUR Orange Flame Metallic finish. Each layer of this vibrant hue is meticulously applied at the MANUFAKTUR line in the factory, with the front and rear bumpers receiving hand-sprayed treatment for an impeccable finish. This standout paint is accentuated by features from the AMG Exterior Chrome Package, exclusive black brake calipers, a sophisticated black soft top, and striking 21-inch AMG Forged Cross-Spoke wheels. Notably, an AMG emblem finds its pride of place above the radiator grille, marking its debut on the AMG SL roadster.
Inside, the cabin is an epitome of luxury. The hand-stitched MANUFAKTUR Mystic Red/Black Nappa leather, highlighted by orange contrast stitching, is lavishly spread across the seats, steering wheel, armrest, door panels, and the instrument panel. Add to this the standard active multicontour seats with intricate diamond quilting perforations, and details like deep-pile floor mats with embroidered AMG logos, and one recognizes the sheer craftsmanship involved.
But it isn’t just about aesthetics. The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 MANUFAKTUR Big Sur is equipped with a comprehensive suite of standard equipment. These offerings, aimed at elevating luxury, safety, and dynamic driving, include the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package, AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL Suspension, and the Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System. At its heart lies a Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine, churning out 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. With its impressive specs, it boasts a 0 to 60 mph sprint in a mere 3.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 196 mph.
The unveiling of the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 MANUFAKTUR Big Sur is significant for another reason—it marks the U.S. debut of the MANUFAKTUR program for the broader AMG SL range. Starting with the 2024 AMG SL, U.S. customers can anticipate an enriched palette of three new MANUFAKTUR paints and two exclusive MANUFAKTUR Nappa leather upholsteries.
