The Pilot Sport 4S carries on, for now.
The Pilot Sport 5 replaces the Pilot Sport 4, widely recognized as one of the greats.
Michelin’s Pilot Sport series of tires earned the title as some of, if not the best high-performance tires in the world. Through various reviews and tests, the Pilot Sport routinely comes out as one of the tires to beat. The new Pilot Sport 5 will soon replace the Pilot Sport and its duties are clear.
As a Pilot Sport, the 5 will have to surpass expectations. Michelin has engineered the new 5 to be more responsive thanks to the use of the brand’s Dynamic Response technology. It consists of a hybrid Aramid and Nylon ply that is an integral part of the tire’s structure. Part of its job is to respond to the driver’s input with immediacy. This translates into a heightened and improved driving experience.
The new Pilot Sport 5 also benefits from Dual Sport Tread Design technology. Its built-in outer-tread layout increases grip on dry surfaces while the upgraded inner tread design improves performance in wet conditions. The Dual Sport Tread design has had a very positive impact on overall braking performance.
Michelin is also very aware that looks are very important to sports cars and high-performance sedan enthusiasts. This is why they’ve incorporated a deep black velvet appearance to the tire. And finally, the new Pilot Sport was engineered to outlast the competition as well.
The new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tire will become available worldwide as of March 1. It is expected to be offered in 50 dimensions from 17 to 21 inches. It also launches the 5th generation of the Pilot Sport range meaning that we can expect a new Pilot Sport 5S in the near future.
