MINI teams up with Austrian design studio Vagabund to create two one-off MINI Countryman models that blend design, music, and community spirit into a bold expression of automotive customization.

A Creative Collaboration Focused on Individualization
MINI continues its commitment to customization with a new artistic collaboration with Vagabund. The Austrian design studio reimagines the MINI Countryman through two one-off creations inspired by music and festival culture.

“A long-standing tradition and core value of the MINI brand is individual vehicle customization. Together with Vagabund, MINI continues this approach and demonstrates how a creative reinterpretation of the MINI Countryman – inspired by festival culture and music – can be brought to life through an engaged community,” says Jean-Philippe Parain, Head of MINI.
The project is built on a clear premise: MINI provides the platform, while Vagabund delivers its creative signature. The result takes shape through two distinct yet complementary vehicles that push the versatility of the Countryman in new directions.
Two Visions, One Identity
The two models showcase contrasting yet cohesive visual identities. One, finished in Melting Silver with sand and white accents, adopts a playful, graphic, and lighter approach. The other, in Midnight Black, emphasizes a more monochrome, technical, and precise execution.

“For us, design does not begin with the object, but with the idea behind it – and it only ends when that idea becomes tangible. The MINI x Vagabund one-offs translate a clear concept into an experiential statement,” explains Paul Brauchart, Co-Founder and Head of Creative Vagabund.
This visual duality fully comes to life when both vehicles are experienced together, creating a dynamic contrast that enhances their overall impact.
Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design, adds: “MINI Design stands for vehicles with strong character that people enjoy driving and living with—true to the motto: lifestyle meets function and fun.”
A Thoroughly Reworked Exterior Design
The transformations go far beyond surface-level styling. Redesigned wheel arches give the vehicles a wider stance, while revised bumpers ensure visual consistency with the updated proportions.
The raised ride height reinforces the off-road character of both MINI Countryman S ALL4 models, complemented by 20-inch wheels featuring 3D-printed covers that visually reference loudspeakers.

The roof rack, made from laser-cut aluminium plates and paired with a stainless-steel mesh, becomes an integral design element by echoing the visual language of audio equipment.
The Vehicle as a Sound System
The most striking innovation lies in the transformation of these concepts into mobile audio systems. The rear side windows have been removed and replaced with a specially developed sound system designed for outdoor events.
At its core is a loudspeaker housing made from cast polymer granite, a material chosen for its ability to deliver precise and unaltered sound reproduction. Tweeters and mid-range speakers are integrated directly into the bodywork, while rear-mounted subwoofers provide powerful output when the tailgate is open.

Each vehicle operates as a standalone sound system, but together, they form a mobile stage capable of delivering a fully immersive audio experience.
A unique detail adds further character: an iconic yellow Walkman integrated into a 3D-printed housing. This analogue touch contrasts intentionally with the external sound system, introducing a more personal and nostalgic dimension.
A Shared Vision of Creativity
Vagabund has built its reputation on rethinking existing products through bold visual transformations. This collaboration with MINI highlights a shared philosophy: prioritizing individuality, craftsmanship, and community over conventional design approaches.

One of the two vehicles will be presented to the public for the first time at Auto China 2026 in Beijing, before being showcased across various platforms in line with the project’s community-driven vision.
