Mitsubishi’s long-awaited all-electric SUV offers up to 600km range and Google built-in.

  • Long-range 87kWh battery delivers up to 600km on a single charge (WLTP).

  • Built-in Google services include Maps, Assistant, and Play Store.

  • It’s unknown at the moment if this Eclipse Cross will cross over to our shores.

Mitsubishi Motors Europe has unveiled the New Eclipse Cross, its first fully electric compact SUV, specifically designed for European customers. The electric vehicle marks the brand’s return to the continent’s EV segment, following the launch of the i-MiEV over a decade ago.

The New Eclipse Cross will enter production in late 2025 at Renault Group’s Douai plant in France and will form part of Mitsubishi’s renewed European line-up. The model is also part of the company’s plans to re-establish itself in several key regional markets.

At launch, the New Eclipse Cross will feature an 87kWh battery offering an estimated range of up to 600 km (WLTP). A mid-range variant is expected to join the line-up in 2026. The all-electric compact SUV rides on the CMF-EV platform and is powered by an electric motor that produces up to 160kW (215 hp) and 300Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque.

Top speed is rated at 170 km/h, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h taking 8.4 seconds. Mitsubishi’s regenerative braking system features four selectable levels, while thermal battery management via a water-cooled system helps maintain optimal performance. A standard heat pump and PTC heater are included.

Charging options include Mode 2 (domestic plug), AC charging up to 22kW via Type 2 socket, and DC fast charging up to 150kW via CCS.

Dimensionally, the compact SUV measures 4,470 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height. The current generation Eclipse Cross is 4,547 mm long, 1,806 mm wide, and 1,689 mm high.

Available in four trims (INFORM, INVITE, INTENSE, and INSTYLE) the vehicle offers either 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels, two-tone colour options, and additional exterior personalisation accessories.

Inside, the cabin includes a full-size electrochromic glass roof with user-controlled opacity, LED ambient lighting with 48 configurable colours, and a cargo capacity of 478 litres behind the rear seats.

A 12.3-inch portrait-format infotainment display, supported by a matching 12.3-inch digital driver display, serves as the centre of the vehicle’s interface.

Google built-in services include Google Maps with real-time traffic and charging point information, Google Play for compatible apps, and Google Assistant with voice command functionality. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also standard. Additional cabin technology includes a wireless charging pad and Harman & Kardon Premium Audio system.

The vehicle’s digital systems support over-the-air updates, and users can manage vehicle functions via the Mitsubishi Motors app.

Mitsubishi has equipped the New Eclipse Cross with a range of passive and active safety systems. A full suite of advanced driver assistance systems is available, including MI-PILOT, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane centring.
