More Than 90% Of Canadian Ford Mach-E Reservations Include AWD

Ford’s all-new Mach-E electric SUV is ready for winter: It’s been tested in the toughest winter driving conditions

  • The all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E arrives late in 2020.
  • RWD and AWD versions are offered.
  • AWD is available as a $3,500 option on the base $50,495 Select Trim, or $53,995.

On many levels, Ford’s not taking any chances with its first 100% electric vehicle. One of the issues with EVs revolves around winter driving performance. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be available with either a RWD or AWD setup.

Understandably, more than 90% of all Canadian reservations so far are for AWD-equipped models. The percentage is similar in states like Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. For most of the North East of the US, nearly 75% aren’t taking any chances as they’ve also opted for the dual motor configuration.

Likely expecting this high take rate, Ford’s put the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E to the test at the Smithers Winter Test Center, an 800-acre installation in the northern Michigan peninsula. According to Ford, the Mach-E is absolutely ready to face blizzards, and the worst our harsh winters can throw at us.

The most affordable AWD 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the Select and it retails for $53,995.
