On many levels, Ford’s not taking any chances with its first 100% electric vehicle. One of the issues with EVs revolves around winter driving performance. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be available with either a RWD or AWD setup.
Understandably, more than 90% of all Canadian reservations so far are for AWD-equipped models. The percentage is similar in states like Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. For most of the North East of the US, nearly 75% aren’t taking any chances as they’ve also opted for the dual motor configuration.
Likely expecting this high take rate, Ford’s put the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E to the test at the Smithers Winter Test Center, an 800-acre installation in the northern Michigan peninsula. According to Ford, the Mach-E is absolutely ready to face blizzards, and the worst our harsh winters can throw at us.
The most affordable AWD 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the Select and it retails for $53,995.
