Mullen Automotive Raised the Limit on Pre-orders of the Five SUV From 5,000 to 25,000

Demand seems to be strong for the Mullen Five one week after its public debut

  • Demand has been strong in the week following the vehicle’s launch

  • The company has received at least 5,000 pre-orders

  • Deliveries should begin in 2024

Mullen Automotive is a young automaker that unveiled its first production ready model, the Mullen Five electric SUV, last week at the Los Angeles auto show.

The company had set a limit of 5,000 pre-orders, but according to the CEO, an “overwhelmingly high” demand led them to increase this limit to 25,000.

Buyers who decide to trust this new company will be able to benefit from a special trim package that will be specific to the first run of 25,000 vehicles.

The Mullen Five has big ambitions since it wants to compete against the Tesla Model S Plaid, the fastest electric car in production. To do this, a RS model is said to be able to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 1.9 seconds.

Even the regular model will have impressive performance, since it should accelerate to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and it will be capable of a top speed that is limited at 155 mph (250 km/h).

This SUV will be built on a skateboard platform that will allow it to offer many different powertrain configurations and a range of 325 miles (523 kilometers) from a 95-kWh battery. Fast charging capabilities will replenish 80% battery charge in 21 minutes.

Prices should start at $55,000 in the United States and production is set to begin in Mississippi in late 2023, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2024.

As seem to be getting more and more common, Mullen Automotive is trading on the stock market (MULN) but you might want to wait a bit before investing into it, since the announcement signaling the increase in available reservations bizarrely made the company’s stock lose 17% of its value, despite being good news.
