Even though players are dropping out of the midsize sedan segment, competition remains fierce. The new 2020 Hyundai Sonata wants to convince you that it’s the one to get.
No matter the angle at which you glance at the new 2020 Hyundai Sonata sedan, it looks like no other Sonata, ever. It’s quite simple in fact; this is Hyundai’s attempt at breaking into the 4-door coupé class.
The giant South Korean car company calls this new design language “Sensuous Sportiness” but we call it “attempting to punch above its weight class.” The first car that comes to mind when looking at the new 2020 Hyundai Sonata is the VW Arteon, which is a compliment indeed.
The thing with Hyundai products is that they funnel so much effort into design and initial impressions that the cars date themselves after only a few short years. The Elantra and new Santa Fe are two such recent examples with features so distinctive that they’re almost guaranteed not to return in a follow up generation.
Anyhow, there are few details available at the moment on the new Sonata save for some exterior dimensions. The car is 30mm lower, 25 mm wider, 45mm longer of which 35mm were positioned in the wheelbase.
The 2020 Hyundai Sonata will make its North American debut at the New York Auto Show in about six weeks.
