New 2020 Hyundai Venue SUV Headed For New York Auto Show

Hyundai may be planning an even smaller SUV called the Venue.


The 2020 Hyundai Venue was teased in a quick video published early this morning. This isn’t the first time Hyundai has talked about a small SUV to slot beneath the Kona in its lineup, but it is the first time a name has been attached to it.

Very few details have been published about the new Hyundai Venue and so we will just have to speculate. Given the size and market positionning of the Hyundai Kona, we’re thinking the 2020 Hyundai Venue will aim directly at the Hyundai Kicks and be priced below $20,000 in Canada.

With the current Kona starting at $21,099 here, there’s still room to go lower. What will be interesting to see is how small Hyundai is willing to go with the new Venue. Let’s be honest here, the Kona has a lot of attributes but space isn’t one of them. We can’t imagine going any smaller.

That could prove a problem for the new Hyundai Venue. The Nissan Kicks is already more spacious than the Kona, so imagine if the Venue is even smaller…

A few details have already emerged about the Venue, namely that it will have a more traditional design compared with the more eccentric Kona. As for the name itself, Hyundai says it chose “Venue” because the new vehicle’s interior is a venue and a place where you want to be. Ok then.

The new 2020 Hyundai Venue will be joining the new Hyundai Palisade in a growing Hyundai SUV lineup and could arrive on the market by the end of the year.
