By all accounts, both Cadillacs are instant classics.
These Blackwing models are among the fastest and most powerful Cadillac ever.
Both are offered with a choice between a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The official coming of the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing cars was announced some time ago but it looks like the wait will be worth it. Cadillac might not be a brand most associate with motorsports however they’ve accrued a serious number of trophies over the years. This hard-fought experience has gone into creating the Blackwing cars.
“Driving is always a blend of the quantifiable and the subjective, and in both regards, the new CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing deliver like few other luxury sport sedans,” said Mirza Grebovic, Cadillac performance variant manager. “They’ve got the numbers to stand with the world’s best, but they also transcend the stopwatch with the sort of satisfying driver experience that cannot be defined by lap times alone.”
The 2022 CT5-V Blackwing alone is poster-worthy for its styling and specifications. Its hand-assembled supercharged 6.2-litre V8 produces 668 horsepower and 659 lb.-ft. of torque, enough to launch the car to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds with the 10-speed autobox or in 3.6 seconds with the 6-speed manual. The CT5-V Blackwing’s top speed is rated at 200+ mph (322+ km/h).
The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is no slouch thanks to its twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre V6 which is good for 472 horsepower and 445 lb.-ft. of torque.
“The V-Series Blackwings are really special vehicles,” said Darci Marcum, Lansing Grand River Assembly plant director. “The first 250 CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing builds have collector’s edition touches. We are excited to reveal sill plates that have been signed by an employee directly involved in the development of these cars.”
These first 250 cars were sold out in mere minutes. We’re guessing GM won’t make these cars in massive numbers so the time to buy is now.
