The official presentation takes place at 11 pm ET.
A new PHEV variant is expected.
Lexus’ much-lamented Remote Touch interface looks to be eliminated.
Some images of the all-new 2022 Lexus NX have already leaked on the interwebs which is why we can already make a few comments with respect to its styling. Immensely popular in the small premium SUV, the NX’s evolution might seem timid but it might be all that is required.
The new NX’s overall shape is sharper than the model it replaces but trades many angular surfaces and creases for smoother lines. There’s a little more aggression designed into the front shield which will serve only to increase the SUV’s road presence. The rear is tidier with the connecting LED taillights.
The most important changes look to be on board. The new infotainment display is now flush with the dashboard meaning that it is finally touch-sensitive and a quick peek at the center console reveals that the dreaded Remote touchpad seems to be a thing of the past.
Powertrain option will surely be confirmed later today however a PHEV version is expected as is an NX 350, presumably with a near-300 horsepower from a 3.5-litre V6. The expectation is that it will use the RAV4 Prime’s powertrain configuration.
The official reveal happens at 11 pm tonight. You can follow the event here.
