Rumours of the next Subaru BRZ (and Toyota 86) have gone in every direction. Doubts about its return, all the way to big-power versions have circulated. We’ve known that the BRZ has been safe for a while now and we’ll finally get to see it live in less than two weeks.
There’s still nothing to go on as far as the powertrain is concerned other than, in the brief video shared by Subaru. We can hear a deep engine note between the 11th and the 12th second which sounds more like a “V” engine than an “H”… Let’s chalk that up to wind, road and engine noises combined. From the 21-second mark, and to our ears, the more familiar engine tune is deeper, or throatier, than what we’ve become accustomed to with the 1st-generation’s naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre flat-4 cylinder engine.
Beyond the sounds, we get but a glimpse of the BRZ‘s wheels, including a rear one with an air intake that is presumably functional to cool the brakes. Oh, and the front shot that depicts the headlight and part of the nose.
The full-reveal happens on November 18th at 9am EST.
