The new record stands at 2 minutes 23.120 seconds.
The previous record was 2:23:993 seconds set by a 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition.
For the average person, track lap records are unimportant. For enthusiasts and the performance and sports car communities, they are everything or nearly. This is why the fact that the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R has set a new Suzuka Circuit FWD lap record means quite a bit.
The new FL Type R was clocked at 2 minutes 23.120 seconds, or 0.873 seconds faster than the previous record-holder, the fantastic 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition. As you may know, the CTR LE was a track-focused iteration of the FK8 Type R. This then begs the question: Will Honda prepare another Limited Edition Type R and once more beat the lap record?
The next-generation Honda Civic Type R will be revealed later this summer. The new CTR is expected to carry over the FK8’s turbocharged 300+ horsepower 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine set up with a 6-speed manual transmission.
