New 2025 Kia K4 Officially Introduced at New York Auto Show

The new 2025 Kia K4 will arrive on the market in fall 2024 as Kia’s compact sedan offering, replacing the outgoing Forte.

  • 2025 Kia K4 will feature brand-new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment with nearly 30 inches of screen display

  • A wide range of active safety systems and driver assistance technologies to be offered

  • Powertrain lineup includes base 2.0-litre four-cylinder and available 1.6-litre turbo

One week after revealing the design of the all-new 2025 Kia K4 compact sedan, Kia unveiled the full list of features, versions, powertrains, and technology that will be offered in the Korean automaker’s latest model at the New York International Auto Show. Set to replace the Kia Forte as Kia‘s entry-level sedan, the new K4 features a unique design that follows the newly introduced Kia visual signature seen on recent models like the Kia EV9.

The Kia K4 certainly doesn’t look like any other compact sedan, but Kia hopes that its extensive list of features, starting with advanced connectivity technology, will allow the new sedan to stand out even more.

Advanced Safety and Connected Technology

The interior features a massive digital instrument cluster and multimedia center display combined across one large rectangular display that spans nearly 30 inches. Dubbed the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, the multimedia system in the K4 promises to process faster and offer more intuitive usability. A system called Quick Controls will allow users to access their frequently used functions seamlessly, and the ccNC system will also offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which will be standard on every K4 trim. The Digital Key 2.0 feature, seen on multiple new Kia models, will also be offered. The Digital Key allows users to access the vehicle using a smartphone and also “share” access to their Kia with a friend or family member.

The new technology found in the 2025 Kia K4 does not stop at the infotainment system. The new K4 will also offer the full suite of Kia ADAS (Active Driver Assistance Systems) technology. This bundle includes a ton of different driver assistance technologies, including Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, as well as Lane Keeping Assist. On some of the higher K4 trims, such as the GT-Line Turbo Tech model, the Kia K4 will be able to detect crossing vehicles at intersections and avoid collisions using the Collision Avoidance Assist system. The K4 will also feature a standard Surround View Monitor, which provides a 360-degree view of the surroundings of the vehicle when parking.

More Rear Legroom

Measuring just over 4,700 mm in length and 1,849 mm in width, the new K4 is over 5 cm longer and wider than the outgoing Forte. These added dimensions mostly benefit rear legroom, which will be a full 6 cm more generous than in the previous Kia compact sedan. Cargo space remains generous at 413 litres, making the new K4 more accommodating for luggage than many of its peers, although there is a slight decrease in cargo volume compared to the past Forte.

Same Engines, More Comfort

The powertrain lineup remains unchanged. The base standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder will send 147 hp and 132 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic gearbox. Buyers looking for more power can opt for a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 190 hp and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine also routes its power to the front wheels, this time through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Although the performance should be similar to the current Forte, Kia says significant improvements have been made to enhance comfort and quiet the interior. An acoustic windshield and acoustic 18-inch tires on higher trims are some of these improvements.

The 2025 Kia K4 will arrive on the market in the second half of 2024. Pricing and fuel economy details will be announced at a later date.
