Anti-lag system from Ford GT improves turbo response in new factory-built Mustang RTR.
RTR integrates Mustang Dark Horse suspension and braking components for agile handling.
Exclusive interior, graphics, and styling set Mustang RTR apart in EcoBoost lineup.
Ford has shared details on the thoroughly exciting 2026 Mustang RTR, a new factory-built performance version of the Mustang EcoBoost. Developed in partnership with RTR Vehicles and Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr., the model incorporates race-derived technology, including anti-lag turbocharging, and chassis components from higher-performance Mustangs to create a new turbocharged Pony focused on drift-ready hooning with factory-backed tuning.

The 2026 Mustang RTR, or Drift-Stang, is powered by the standard 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine producing 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque on 93-octane fuel. It integrates Ford’s patented anti-lag system, adapted from the Ford GT endurance race car, designed to keep the turbocharger spooled during aggressive driving. The result is quicker throttle response under demanding conditions and sustained power delivery.
Shared components from the Mustang GT Performance Pack and Mustang Dark Horse include Brembo brakes with six-piston front and four-piston rear callipers, revised sway bars and rear sub-frame. The RTR also receives a factory-installed Electronic Drift Brake and Active-Valve Performance Exhaust system, with four selectable modes. The steering system has been tuned for increased angles, and the optional MagneRide dampers are recalibrated to support higher-performance driving, particularly in drift mode.

Exterior changes unique to the RTR include a Mustang GT front fascia with signature RTR lighting, lit grille nostrils, and RTR-branded graphics in Tarnished Dark Anodized finishes. The RTR rides on 19×9.5-inch wheels with a 30 mm offset and is available with Hyper Lime brake callipers. An optional Hyper Lime Exterior Package takes body graphics and brake detailing to the next level.
The cabin features model-specific Hyper Lime stitching, a matching Drift Brake lever, RTR sill plates, and a serialized dash plaque. Digital screens display custom RTR animations upon entry and start-up. Interior trim options include standard cloth/vinyl, ActiveX, or optional Black Onyx leather. For a more subdued look, customers can choose neutral stitching and a standard Drift Brake finish at no extra cost.

The RTR Package will be offered exclusively on Fastback models equipped with the EcoBoost High Package ($43,320 with fees) or the $47,525 (fees included) EcoBoost Premium trim.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in summer 2026. This marks only the second time in Mustang’s 60-year history that Ford has collaborated with a third-party on a high-performance model available directly from the factory.
