BMW M CEO Markus Flasch flashes details and images on Instagram.
It will feature carbon everything including brakes and seats.
BMW M shaved 70 kg off the M5 Competition.
A CS car is the ultimate hardcore speed variant of an already potent BMW M product. For the moment, only the BMW M2 is offered in a CS trim but it will soon be joined by an M5 CS. And according to BMW M CEO Markus Flasch, it arrives next month.
As this is only a teaser, details are limited to what Flasch shared a story on bmwm’s Instagram account. The highlights include output which, at 635 horsepower, might only be 18 horsepower more than the M5 Competition on which it is based but that’s less than half the story.
The M5 CS will be 70 kg lighter thanks to a number of factors. One being the use of carbon-ceramic brakes and the other, carbon buckets up front. Assuming the BMW blog is correct, and loosely based on what Flasch said, the rear passengers will also be seated in carbon buckets seats. This decision alone will save considerable weight.
Other distinctions include various gold-bronze highlights throughout the car, including the kidney grille surround and the forged alloy wheels.
