New Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia Is Extremely Rare

We’re big fans of the Alfa Romeo 4C over here at MI and we know we’re not alone.

One of the best pure sports cars available today, the 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C is way too extreme for most. This isn’t a car that you tool around a trendy downtown district in or impress your friends at the country club.

The suspension is hard as rocks, there’s no power steering, the thing violently vibrates at red lights and ridiculously loud even at idle. You need a track to properly appreciate the Italian roadster and the reality of sports car ownership is very few owners actually take their vehicle to the track.

That explains why the 4C, despite its good looks and relatively affordable base price, is basically a dud taking up space in frustrated Alfa Romeo dealerships’ showrooms. Still, Alfa is doubling down with a new and very limited special edition unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show.

Called the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia, it comes in a stunning Misano Blue paint scheme which you won’t find on any other 4C. Starting at just over $70,000 US, the 4C Spider will be limited to just 15 models in North America.

Less than 250 Alfa Romeo 4C models were sold last year in North America so its probably best that Alfa didn’t bring more Spider Italia versions to market. On the other hand, if you do get your hands on one, you’re basically guaranteed to never see another 4C Spider like yours.

Power doesn’t change. The 4C Spider Italia keeps the 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque which given how light the 4C is makes it possible to reach 100 km/h in less than 5.0 seconds.
