Audi says the A2 e-tron can consume as little as 12.8 kWh/100 km under WLTP testing.
Three battery capacities and four power levels give the electric Audi multiple configurations.
European orders open September 10; North American availability unconfirmed and unlikely.
Audi is preparing a new entry point to its European EV lineup with the A2 e-tron, a compact EV designed around low energy consumption, flexible battery choices and efficient use of existing manufacturing infrastructure.
The German automaker says the most economical configuration consumes only 12.8 kWh/100 km under the WLTP test cycle, or approximately 14.5 kWh/100 km EPA. This makes the A2 the lowest-consuming series-production Audi to date. That figure applies to the 140-kW version equipped with an optional efficiency package.

Range can reach 646 km under WLTP testing (553 km EPA), depending on configuration. Audi will offer three gross battery capacities — 52, 61 and 84 kWh — alongside four power levels. Output starts at 125 kW (168 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque and reaches 240 kW (322 hp) and 545 Nm (402 lb-ft) in the highest-output model.
The two smaller batteries use lithium iron phosphate cells in a cell-to-pack configuration. The 84-kWh pack uses nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry and is reserved for the 170-kW and 240-kW variants. All versions use rear-wheel drive and permanent-magnet synchronous motors, with four regenerative-braking settings, including one-pedal operation.
The Upcoming Audi A2 e-Tron is the Most Efficient Audi Ever Made
Aerodynamic work contributes to a drag coefficient of 0.24, Audi’s best result for a compact model. Measures include a mostly enclosed underbody, active cooling-air intake, specialized wheels and components designed to manage airflow around the wheel arches.
Despite its compact positioning, the A2 e-tron has a 2.77-metre wheelbase and provides 396 litres of cargo capacity behind the rear seats. Folding those seats increases capacity to 1,336 litres. Certain higher-output models also receive a 13-litre front storage compartment.

The cabin introduces an 11.9-inch digital instrument display alongside a curved 12.8-inch touchscreen as standard equipment. Audi also includes its AI-enabled assistant and e-tron route planner. Available connected-work functions integrate Microsoft Outlook and Teams, while an optional 1.6-square-metre panoramic glass roof increases cabin light.
Audi is also adding bidirectional energy functions. Vehicle-to-Load can supply external devices when the high-voltage battery has at least a 20% charge. Vehicle-to-Home functionality will be offered in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with compatible DC wall boxes, allowing the car to exchange electricity with a household system within specified battery limits.

The A2 e-tron will be manufactured in Ingolstadt, Germany. The production program incorporates more than 1,200 pieces of existing manufacturing equipment and approximately 250 robots previously used for other vehicles. The company also says development took 21 months less than comparable predecessor programs.
European order books open September 10, 2026, followed by the first vehicles reaching Audi retailers in December. German pricing begins at €38,200 (CDN$61,000)
