New Audi A3 was revealed back in April.
The S3 will be powered by a turbocharged 300+ horsepower 2.0-litre engine.
As per the norm, we expect we will get the sedan and not the cool hatchback.
The Audi S3, both the sedan and the hatchback (called Sportback), are part of an elite group of small high-end pocket rockets that deliver exemplary driving thrills. It, and the BMW 2 Series and Mercedes-AMG A-Class cars may not be the most powerful or fastest in their respective brands but driving enthusiasts truly appreciate them. Watching the new Audi S3 lap the Nürburgring is satisfying.
automotive_mike posted the footage on his YouTube channel. The video begins with closeups of the S3 Sportback wearing the proper flared fenders, aggressive front fascia, pronounced side skirts, roof rails and it upsets us a little bit. More than likely, we once again will not get the Sportback version of the A3/S3/RS 3 because North Americans, or is that Americans, don’t get hatchbacks…
Even so, the 300+ horsepower and expected 295 lb.-ft. of torque turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, s Tronic transmission, and quattro AWD will be identical. And honestly, from the footage and official images of the new A3, the sedan is a sharp looker. Our only hope for the Sportback comes in the form of the PHEV e-Tron.
The new Audi A3 should arrive later this year and S3 should follow shortly after.
