Ferrari launches 849 Testarossa with hybrid V8 and 1,050 cv.
Revised powertrain boosts downforce and improves thermal efficiency.
Interior updates include advanced HMI and driver assistance systems.
Ferrari has introduced the 849 Testarossa, a new plug-in hybrid supercar positioned at the top of its range and succeeding the SF90 Stradale. The model combines a re-engineered 830 hp twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors for a total output of 1,050 hp.

The vehicle revives the historic “Testarossa” name, first used in 1956 and most famously in 1984. The first-ever Redhead has aged into one of the finest-looking Ferrari’s of all-time. It could be argued that the ’80s Testarossa was and is nowhere as attractive, though its status as a poster car and hero car in the famous Miami Vice series makes it untouchable. It’s difficult to imagine that the new Testarossa will gain a similar status as its predecessors.
The explanation for its somewhat awkward front-end design is rooted in aerodynamics. What you see is the result of development focused on increasing downforce and thermal efficiency. The car produces 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, or 25 kg more than the SF90 Stradale. Airflow management improvements, including vortex generators, revised diffusers, and a two-section active rear spoiler, enable this increase.

The Assetto Fiorano package, an undoubtedly insanely expensive option package, is responsible for the odd nose. It offers further aerodynamic and performance enhancements, including carbon fibre components, front downforce-increasing flicks, and twin rear wings. It reduces vehicle weight by 30 kg.
The 849 Testarossa soul features a mid-rear-mounted, 3.9-litre V8 engine with dry sump lubrication, delivering 830 hp at 7,500 rpm and 842 Nm (621 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm. The new power unit benefits from a larger turbocharger, revised intake and exhaust systems, and extensive component weight reduction. Despite the 50 hp increase compared to the SF90 Stradale, the dry weight remains 1,570 kg.

The plug-in hybrid system consists of three electric motors, including two on the front axle and one MGU-K unit on the rear axle, which collectively contribute 220 hp. The 7.45 kWh lithium-ion battery supports a maximum electric-only range of 25 km (assumingly WLTP). In eDrive mode, the vehicle operates with 163 hp from the electric motors alone.
The combined powertrain enables acceleration from 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds and 0–200 km/h in 6.35 seconds. Top speed exceeds 330 km/h. Cooling systems were overhauled to support higher power output. Radiator surface area grew by 18%, and intercooler capacity increased by 19%.

The 849 Testarossa introduces Ferrari’s new ABS Evo braking controller and the Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator (FIVE), which digitally models the car’s behaviour in real time to refine dynamic responses. Revised suspension geometry, lighter springs, and updated dampers contribute to a 3% increase in lateral performance compared to the outgoing model.
Braking components have been upgraded with larger front and rear discs, improved thermal management, and optimized callipers. Regenerative braking has also been recalibrated for smoother pedal response and better energy recovery. Brake cooling efficiency rose by up to 70% at the rear due to revised ducting and airflow separation.
Tire configurations include bespoke options from Michelin, Pirelli, and Bridgestone. Sizes are 265/35 R20 at the front and 325/30 R20 at the rear.

The cabin combines a new HMI system with analog and digital controls. The dashboard integrates a floating central console and sail motifs, while the new steering wheel includes mechanical buttons for core functions. Seating options include comfort or racing variants, with available carbon-fibre construction.
The 849 Testarossa includes Ferrari’s 7-year scheduled maintenance program and optional extended warranties for hybrid components. Customers may extend coverage up to 16 years, including battery replacement at no additional cost.
New personalization options include exterior colours Rosso Fiammante and Giallo Ambra, as well as a new Giallo Siena Alcantara interior trim. Forged rims are available with customizable geometries developed in conjunction with the aerodynamic team.
