The images depict a design that looks identical to the concept.
The Nissan Z Proto was revealed last September.
There’s nothing worse than a manufacturer revealing a cool concept only to see them massacre the design for production purposes. It appears as though Nissan will not make this mistake with the highly-anticipated Z car as the patent images show a car that is all but completely identical to the Z Proto.
The replacement for the now prehistoric Nissan 370Z was finally and officially revealed in September last year, and to generally good reviews. Nissan was not shy about sharing with all that they dove deep into Z car history for design inspiration. The resulting Z Proto, a production-ready preview of the new Z according to Nissan, could have been tampered with but it looks like the car’s safe.
The patent images offer various angles which, when lined up with images of the Z Proto, as CarExpert did, we can clearly see that there are no changes. With the exception of the wheel design and the side-view mirrors, every other detail is identical.
Production of the new Nissan Z car might not begin until late 2022 however we think Nissan will fast-forward this timeline.
