- This is the third teaser for the new Polaris Slingshot
- Overall design not expected to change much
- A new, Polaris-designed engine will replace current GM EcoTec motor
Polaris appears to be hard at work on the next Polaris Slingshot. The company released a teaser image last week of a new headlight design and now we get two new teaser videos providing a bit more detail.
The videos show a more agressive design for the next Polaris Slingshot. We also get a glimpse of the interior that features a redesigned centre console and a new push-button start system. There’s also a new steering wheel and gauge cluster. A multi-spoke wheel design can also be seen.
Although nothing has been confirmed by Polaris just yet, the word going around is that the next-gen Slingshot will also get a different engine. More specifically, Polaris will drop the 2.4-litre Ecotec sourced from General Motors for a new powertrain designed in-house. No word on specs just yet, but it will likely be more powerful than the 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque offered in the Slingshot today.
The official unveiling of the Slingshot will happen on January 14 and sales are supposed to start in March. That said, Polaris may delay sales of the new Slingshot in order to move current models still on dealer lots Autoblog says.
