A forum user leaked some pictures of what appears to be the next generation 2020 Acura MDX and 2021 TLX.
An AcuraZine.com forum member was looking through his RDX head unit files when he stumbled upon images we were not supposed to see.
Indeed, member rdx.god said on the forum: “I was digging around images in the com.android.systemui package located on the RDX, loaded it into android developer toolkit, and low and behold, they have had images of the unreleased 2020 MDX on our RDX this whole time.”
The pictures reveal the MDX sporting a new front fascia while the new TLX is seen wearing a lot of the Acura Precision Concept styling cues. Or is it the next-gen TLX?
We should learn soon if this is indeed the new TLX or a new flagship sedan from the Japanese brand. This question should be cleared as early as next month at Pebble Beach where Acura is supposed to unveil a near-production-ready four-door coupe concept. So instead of the new TLX could it be the RLX replacement?
The original post also shows both cars from a lot of different angles as well as new features coming to them, like some ambient lighting options and power-adjustable headrests. Furthermore, we can learn that new driving modes will be available.
The American publication Car and Driver contacted Acura to learn more and confirm the images and they got, as an answer from the carmaker: “conceptual renderings based on our Precision Concept design language…for placement only”.
You can take a look at all the renderings of both cars on the original AcuraZine.com thread.
