Like the C 63, the next E 63 S will be a PHEV.
The combined powertrain output is expected to be more than 600 horsepower.
The new E Class will look like a smaller version of the new S-Class.
Mercedes-Benz is seriously flexing its engineering muscle of late. In what seems like only a few months, Benz’ has launched numerous new members of its EQ family of EVs blasting by the competition. Even so, Mercedes isn’t quite done with the internal combustion engine but don’t look for a V8 though…
Mercedes-Benz announced a few months ago that the V8 engine was essentially dead for the North American market in 2022. A few months before that, AMG told the world about what the next C 63 S was going to do without the V8 and, in its stead, it will be powered by a plug-in hybrid 4-cylinder powertrain. Despite the somewhat disappointing news, the promised 600+ horsepower output should make it an easy pill to swallow.
This news was predictable and has been confirmed by Autocar: The next-generation Mercedes-AMG E 63 S will also be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with plug-in hybrid technology.
