Next-generation Rogue launches with e-Power first, gasoline version to follow in 2027.
Nissan expects the hybrid Rogue to exceed half of model sales within two years.
Tennessee production and sourcing decisions are central to Rogue pricing and margin targets.
Nissan’s evolving rebirth will begin with the anticipated next-generation compact crossover and its promising hybrid powertrain. In fact, the new Rogue, scheduled to arrive in late 2026, will be offered with e-Power technology only.

The gasoline-only version of the fourth-generation Rogue will follow in 2027, giving Nissan a staggered rollout for its highest-volume North American nameplate. For roughly a year, the automaker also plans to continue selling the current-generation gasoline Rogue at a lower price point. Call it the Rogue Play?
The three-vehicle approach, including the recently-added Rogue PHEV (Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV clone), is intended to keep traffic flowing through dealerships while Nissan transitions one of its most important products into a more electrified phase. Nissan Americas chairman Christian Meunier said the overlap should help dealers retain shoppers who may otherwise leave without a deal.
Nissan is counting on the e-Power system to become the main powertrain for the Rogue soon after launch. Meunier said the company expects the hybrid to represent more than half of Rogue volume within two years.

This target reflects the changing compact crossover market. According to Edmunds data cited by Nissan, hybrids and plug-in hybrids represented about one-quarter of segment sales in the first quarter, up nearly nine percentage points from three years earlier. Gasoline-only models now account for less than 70% of the segment. Among Rogue owners who switched brands in the same quarter, 19% moved into a hybrid. This is motivation.
The urgency is clear in Rogue’s recent sales history. U.S. deliveries fell from 412,110 units in 2018 to 217,896 in 2025, the model’s lowest level in 12 years. Nissan reported a 13% increase in the first quarter of this year, but the company’s stated objective is to restore annual Rogue volume to 250,000 to 300,000 units once the new model is fully ramped up. Canadian Rogue sales are down 8.5% in the first quarter of 2026. Sales were up 10.1% in 2025.
Nissan says the third-generation e-Power system will improve highway fuel economy by 15% over the previous version while also reducing noise and emissions. For an all-wheel-drive Rogue, Nissan is targeting 40 mpg (5.9L/100km) combined, compared with 37 mpg (6.4L/100km) for the comparable Honda CR-V Hybrid and roughly in line with the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

Initial e-Power Rogue production will begin in Japan this summer. U.S. assembly of the new gasoline Rogue is scheduled to start at Nissan’s Smyrna, Tennessee, plant in spring 2027, with the hybrid version planned there as quickly as possible. Nissan is also evaluating whether e-Power components could be built at its engine plant in Decherd, Tennessee.
