As an official partner of the NHL (National Hockey League) in Canada, Hyundai gets involved with numerous organizations dedicated to social causes.
Hyundai Canada will donate $10 for every goalie save for next season
The manufacturer plans to donate over $700,000
The money raised will be used to fight pediatric cancer
Ahead of the 2025-2026 NHL season, which kicks off next week, the automaker has announced an initiative called “Greatest Save.” Under this initiative, the company will donate $10 for every save made by a goalie during a regular-season game.
The manufacturer estimates that its contribution will exceed $700,000. It will be the case if the number of saves made by goalies in the league is similar to the number of pucks they stopped last year, which was approximately 73,600.
The initiative is part of Hyundai’s “Hope on Wheels” program, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating pediatric cancer, which affects children. Since its launch last February, the company has already donated $3 million to six Canadian institutions. The brand’s 225 dealerships across the country are also contributing, with a portion of each vehicle sold allocated to research funding, among other initiatives.
It is worth noting that the origins of this program date back to 1998 in the United States.
Regarding the work of the goaltenders this season, the funds raised during the year will be donated to the Hockey Fights Cancer organization through the “Hope on Wheels” program.

The National Hockey League (NHL), the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), and the V Foundation for Cancer Research are partnering with Hyundai in this venture. It may seem a little complex on paper, but ultimately, the goal is the same: to fight pediatric cancer.
Interestingly, the National Hockey League Alumni Association (NHLAA) has stated that its members will work hand in hand with Hyundai to amplify the initiative throughout the season: “We all know the devastating impact that a cancer diagnosis can have, and it’s especially heartbreaking when it affects our children. That’s why the NHL Alumni Association is honoured to be a voice of hope and strength for those who need it most,” said Glenn Healy, Executive Director of the NHLPA and a former league goaltender himself.
The NHL, NHLPA, and Hyundai Canada are delighted with this initiative. For Steve Flamand, President and CEO of Hyundai Canada, “every save on the ice becomes a symbol of support off the ice.”
There is no doubt that this program will make us see every save, whether routine or spectacular, in a completely different light, as a sign of hope in the face of the terrible disease that is cancer.
