400Z could make much more than 400 hp
Latest Zed-car to see small weight gain as well
We know that the next version of the Nissan Z will be called the 400Z, and we know what engine will be under the hood. We didn’t know how much power it would make, though a new leak from a video game might have tipped the brand’s hat a little early.
The Nissan 400Z, the latest in a long run of Z-cars from the brand, was just added to the popular game Project Cars 3 where some eagle-eyed players spotted it and posted what appears to be the car’s performance figures to newnissanz.com (via CarBuzz).
Under the hood of the 400Z is expected to be the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 that is found under the hood of the Infiniti Q50 sedan. What wasn’t clear was if it would be the 300 hp, 295 lb-ft version from the base model V6 Q, which would be 50 hp less than the current naturally aspirated 3.7L V6, or if it would get the more powerful versions found in the Red Sport versions of the Q50.
According to the game, the car will make 331 kW. That’s 444 hp, and a significant boost over the 370Z as well as over the engine as installed in any Infiniti. It would also give the car a significant advantage over the Toyota Supra and even the Audi TT RS or Porsche 718 Cayman.
The game also puts the weight of the car at 1,475 kg, or just 50 or so kilos heavier than the current car. With the addition of a twin-turbo engine and the expected modern amenities into what is largely the same platform, that’s not a bad increase at all.
The question remains as to if this power figure will be the production one, especially as it would so outclass the competition. It would sure make the new Nissan 400Z a heck of a sports car bargain, though, so we’ll wait hopefully.
