Nissan Canada Will Auction Off a Unique GT-R Work of Art

Every penny over the $280,000 for the GT-R and art piece will be donated to charity by Nissan Canada

  • It’s a 1-of-1 non-fungible token (NFT) with a special extra.

  • The digital piece of art will include the keys to an actual new GT-R Nismo Special Edition.

  • The reserve price is $280,000.

The Nissan GT-R is certainly a work of art itself. With powerful lines, an aggressive stance, and immense power, it too can draw when driven hard and slideways on a track. But in all seriousness, Nissan Canada has commissioned Canadian artist Alex McLeod to produce a unique piece of digital art featuring the iconic GT-R. The work is going to be auctioned off and the reserve price is set at $280,000.

You might be thinking that this is a hefty sum for a single digital piece of art but it’s not in fact. The reason is that, should you enter the winning bid, you’ll also get the keys to a new and rare Nissan GT-R Nismo Special Edition.

“The Nissan GT-R is arguably one of our most iconic vehicles and has been a mainstay in the sports car market since its 2009 Model Year debut,” said Ken Hearn, Director of Marketing for Nissan Canada Inc. “Recognizing NFT followers and car enthusiasts share the same passion for inspired design and a bold approach, Nissan wanted to create an NFT that would celebrate the GT-R’s legacy and mark the launch of its most exclusive edition to date – the 2021 GT-R NISMO Special Edition. It’s been great working with a talented, innovative artist like Alex to bring Nissan Canada’s first-ever NFT to market, and we’re thrilled to reveal the final piece of art today.”
