Trailgater and Tarmac will be at Nissan’s display
Nissan is marking 60 years in Canada
Nissan has big plans for the Toronto auto show next month. The Japanese car company is celebrating 60 years in Canada, bringing two of its newest project cars to the show, three all-new models, and it will bring its all-electric Ariya to the EV test track once again.
The first of the two concepts is Project Trailgater. This Nissan Frontier-based model is getting a three-part build on PowerNation TV to show off what has been done to the Pro-4X truck. It has Nismo accessories, including a a lift and suspension, bed rack, cargo cases, and beadlock-capable wheels.
It’s what’s in the bed that is the star of the show, though. A pair of weatherproof 43-inch TVs that let you tailgate on the trail (get it) via the screens and an included satellite internet system. The truck gets powered coolers, a grille for cooking, and even a kitchen sink.
The Frontier Tarmac is a street truck. Designed by Forsberg Racing with Nissan Motorsports, the Tarmac straps a supercharger to the 3.8L V6 to bring it beyond 400 hp. Massive brakes with Z Nismo calipers and 20-inch carbon-barrelled wheels with Yokohama tires help this truck stick and stop. A Nismo suspension kit with adjustable coilover suspension makes sure it is low, mean, and corners with aplomb.
Next to those, the other three new models are a little lackluster. Nissan’s latest Kicks will be at the 2025 Canadian International Auto Show starting February 14th, along with the 2025 Nissan Murano and the 2025 Nissan Armada.
