Nissan to Resume Pathfinder, Frontier and Murano Imports to Canada Next Spring

Times are tough for Nissan. The company is constantly being forced to rethink its production, its structure, and even the vehicles it can import into Canada from the United States. With Canada’s tariff counter-measures in place, Nissan has no choice but to make tough decisions about which models it can continue to offer.

  • Inventory levels for all three models are beginning to run low.
  • The Pathfinder lineup will shrink to two versions instead of the current six.
  • With the base trims being removed, prices will be higher.

Nissan has outlined its plan to restart Canadian production allocations of the Pathfinder, Murano, and Frontier in spring 2026, marking the end of a pause that has been in place since May. The three models, all assembled in the United States, were swept up in last year’s tariff dispute after Washington introduced a 25% duty on vehicles coming from Canada, prompting Ottawa to respond with the same measure.

Before the tariffs kicked in, Nissan Canada secured a short-term buffer of units, but the company has not requested any new builds for this market since then and does not intend to supply additional 2025-model-year inventory. While Nissan declined to provide exact figures, it acknowledged that remaining stock of the three nameplates continues to shrink.

Nissan Reveals Updated 2026 Pathfinder with Standard 12.3-inch Screen and Extra Safety Tech

Output for Canada is scheduled to resume in time for the national rollout of the refreshed 2026 Pathfinder. The updated three-row SUV adopts new exterior styling and gains upgraded in-cabin technology, including a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen and wireless charging. Its 3.5-litre V6 remains unchanged. However, the Canadian lineup will be trimmed back significantly for 2026, dropping to two versions instead of the six offered for 2025. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the entry-level trims currently sold will not return.

Automotive News Canada report that Canadian deliveries of the Pathfinder are planned to follow the U.S. introduction set for early 2026.

Nissan Canada has also confirmed that production of the 2026 Murano and Frontier for the Canadian market will recommence next spring. All three models will continue to be sourced from U.S. facilities: the Pathfinder and Murano from Tennessee, and the Frontier from Mississippi.
