Nokian Tyres is dedicated to the art of tires and everything that revolves around them. From design, production, and performance, there isn’t one aspect that Nokian Tyres overlooks while doing what it does. This only in part explains why this lesser-known tire manufacturer is thriving. The other is the product and their latest One is the answer to all tire needs.
Nokian wants everyone shopping for replacement tires to know that they have the model that can do it all. Creating such a tire was no small feat as the requirements are far-ranging but Nokian has the know-how and the expertise to make it happen.
The North American-exclusive all-new Nokian One is an all-season touring tire that delivers well-balanced performance in all seasons. What gives Nokian an edge over most other tire makers when it comes to “all-season” tires is their extensive experience with winter tires.
On the topic of winter, the One is not an all-weather tire, meaning that it does not have the
Snowflake symbol. Endowing a tire with this rating requires some form of compromise, be it in durability or quietness, which explains why the One is not “winter rated” as it’s an all-season, unlike the Nokian WR G4 which is officially approved for winter use.
So what makes the Nokian One so special? The sum of components and part, of course.
Nokian refers to the One as a breakthrough product in the segment. It is the first, in the passenger tire segment, to offer pothole protection thanks to its Aramid (Kevlar) sidewalls. This is the same stuff found in bulletproof vests and it provides serious additional mechanical strength to the sidewalls. This is safety, and peace of mind.

This is just the beginning. The Nokian Tyres One was developed with low-rolling-resistance to improve overall vehicle efficiency. According to Nokian, they are also capable of handling an EV’s high torque capacities.
Its symmetric non-directional tread pattern features a center rib for ideal steering response which is supported by strong shoulder blocks. There is functional siping throughout the tire. Some have a zigzag shape and are open at one end and still fully attached at the other for even more stability.
There are four circumferential grooves for water and snow evacuation. There are high-volume water on all ribs for excellent wet surface control. In fact, Nokian Tyres says that the One out-performs its other tires in wet handling, including the Entyre 2.0 which it replaces.
The all-season compound consists of silica (wet traction and low rolling resistance), synthetic rubber, and carbon black for durability. The result of all this is a tire that is quiet and that generates lower noise levels.
The Nokian Tyres One is delivered with an 80,000 mile / 130,000 km warranty and is available in 70 sizes, from 14 to 20 inches. It will be built at the new Dayton, TN., factory which opened in late 2019. This plant is LEED V4 Silver certified, making it one of the greenest tire factories in the world.
