Novitec, the German supercar tuner, is no stranger to transforming fast things into even faster ones. One of its latest creations may be one of its most ambitious and spectacular ever. Novitec’s taken a sublime McLaren 720S Spider and made it into a seriously wide and powerful hyper-drop-top. The N-Largo packaged Novitec McLaren 720S Spider will also be a very rare sight.
As only 15 of the N-Largo cars will be built, it’s safe to say we’ll never see another one in the wild. Actually, even if you were to potentially see one on the road, it would be nothing more than a blur. From the standard 710 horsepower and 568 lb.-ft. of torque generated from the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, Novitec’s massaged a total 794-horsepower and 648 lb.-ft. of torque because more is faster. The numbers are achieved via a new exhaust system and an independent control panel.
The extra power takes the rather “slow” regular strength 720S Spider to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds instead of 2.9. As well, 200 km/h comes in 7.5 seconds compared to 7.8 and the top speed is now a respectable 346 km/h (215 mph), a vast improvement over the pedestrian standard 341 km/h or 212 mph of the basic car.
Visually, the N-Largo Novitec McLaren 720S Spider is W I D E. Its full carbon-fibre body kit was developed in a wind tunnel for maximum efficiency given the possible very high rates of speed. The flared haunches cover 20-inch front and 21-inch rear superb Vossen wheels.
