The Black Ghost is part of Dodge’s run of “Last Call” models.
It’s number six of a total of seven.
Dodge is nearing the end of its run of “Last Call” petrol-super-powered vehicles. As the automaker prepares to launch new electric muscle cars, it’s celebrating the internal combustion engine as only Dodge could. Its series of special-edition models will introduce the final number at next November’s SEMA show. This is the 6th model and it’s called the Challenger Black Ghost.
The legend of the Black Ghost was born in Detroit in the 1970s. Godfrey Qualls owned a black 1970 Dodge Challenger RT SE (special edition) that basically ruled Woodward Avenue some 50 years ago. It earned its legend status by not only flexing its 426 HEMI-powered muscle but because it would mysteriously disappear into the night for months at a time. This is why it became known as the “Black Ghost” nickname.
“There are so many legendary muscle cars in Dodge brand history, it was hard to choose the seven vehicles we wanted to pay homage to with our Last Call lineup, but the Black Ghost was an easy pick,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis. “The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is the prelude to what we’re going to unveil with our seventh and final special-edition model.”
The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost will be based on a Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody painted Pitch Black. It will feature the following equipment:
Black “gator skin” roof vinyl
Bright Dodge fascia badge
White rear fender graphics
Challenger script grille, fender, and spoiler badges
Midnight Metallic SRT grille badge
Bright fuel filler door
Black six-piston Brembo brake system
3.09:1 rear axle ratio
20-by-11-inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed wheels
Black Mopar hood pins
Black Ghost interior instrument panel badge
