In a crucial phase towards finalizing its development, the Polestar 3, the upcoming electric mid-size SUV of the Polestar brand, has successfully completed two weeks of intense hot weather testing in the United Arab Emirates. This testing phase, which saw the vehicle subjected to temperatures as high as 50 degrees Celsius (122°F), is part of several extreme conditions the car undergoes to ensure reliability and performance.
This latest progress comes on the heels of the SUV’s global unveiling at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. After its debut, the prototypes, accompanied by a dedicated team of engineers, were transported to the UAE. Their primary mission was to optimize the vehicle’s climate system, conducting tests in both urban settings like Dubai and Abu Dhabi and the surrounding desert regions.
Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, expressed satisfaction with the development’s pace, anticipating production commencement in the first quarter of 2024. For enthusiasts eager to get a firsthand experience, Polestar 3 prototypes are now on display in select Polestar Spaces spanning 27 markets globally.
For the US market, production is slated to begin in early 2024 at the Volvo Cars’ plant in South Carolina. Deliveries are projected for the second quarter, positioning the Polestar 3 for a likely 2025 model year introduction. Currently, potential buyers can place an online order with a refundable deposit of $1,000. The starting price stands at $85,300, with potential incentives like the $7,500 federal tax credit anticipated.
