Polestar begins US production of Single motor variant with 563 kilometer range certification from NRCan
Vehicle features 111 kWh battery pack with 250 kW fast charging capability for 30-minute charging sessions
New variant maintains premium features while providing more accessible entry point to flagship SUV line
Polestar has initiated production of its longest-range SUV variant at its Charleston, South Carolina facility. The Single motor version of the Polestar 3 has received official range certification of 563 kilometers from NRCan, positioning it as one of the segment’s range leaders.
Advanced Powertrain Configuration
The new entry-level variant utilizes a 111-kWh battery pack paired with a rear-axle mounted electric motor producing 295 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle maintains the 250 kW peak charging capability of its dual-motor counterpart, enabling a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes.
Michael Lohscheller, Polestar CEO, notes the strategic importance of this launch: “With the start of production of our Long range Single motor Polestar 3 in the US, we will now begin to deliver this car directly to North American customers. This new entry-point for our full-sized flagship electric SUV means Polestar 3 is now accessible to even more consumers than before, while still offering the dynamic and luxury hallmarks of our Dual motor versions.”
The vehicle features sophisticated ride control through its passive damper system with Hydraulic Rebound Stops and Frequency Selective Damping, matching the dynamic characteristics of dual-motor variants. Performance testing shows acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, with stopping power provided by Brembo brakes.
Customization options include six exterior colours, five interior configurations, and four wheel designs, including a new 21-inch alloy option. Additional features available mirror those of dual-motor models, such as the Bowers & Wilkins 25-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos and Bridge of Weir leather upholstery.
