The Polestar 4 made its Canadian premiere at the new retail “Space” in Laval, Quebec. It joins the Polestar 2 sedan and Polestar 3 SUV in the automaker’s growing EV lineup for North America.

The Montreal region is crucial for Polestar’s growth ambitions in North America. Quebec had nearly 171,000 fully electric and hybrid vehicles on its roads in 2023, a figure expected to surpass 240,000 this year as EV adoption continues to accelerate.

“EV adoption in Montreal continues to rise and is a huge success story for Polestar representing our largest market in North America,” said Hugues Bissonnette, Head of Polestar Canada. “With it also being home to our Canadian headquarters, Montreal and the surrounding area are critical for our growth.”

The new Montreal Space offers a seamless experience for local EV buyers to explore Polestar’s expanding lineup. Customers can view the Polestar 2 fastback and Polestar 3 performance SUV in person, consult product specialists, and test drive vehicles.

Introducing the Polestar 4

But the star of the evening was undoubtedly the unveiling of the Polestar 4, making its Canadian premiere. The electric SUV coupe combines the sleek styling of a low-slung sports car with the generous interior space and practicality of a crossover utility vehicle.

Powering the Polestar 4 is a choice of single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations. The range-topping dual-motor variant packs an impressive 544 hp and 506 lb-ft of torque, enough to launch from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

Yet performance doesn’t come at the expense of efficiency. Polestar targets an EPA-rated range of up to 483 km for the single-motor version and 435 km for the dual-motor, both utilizing a 100-kWh battery pack capable of 200 kW DC fast charging.

The Polestar 4’s design is unique and innovative. A panoramic glass roof, retractable door handles, frameless windows, and rear aero blades maximize aerodynamic efficiency. Most strikingly, the traditional rear window has been replaced by an integrated high-definition camera that feeds a real-time view to the driver.

Pricing for the Polestar 4 lineup in Canada starts at $64,900 for the base single-motor long-range model. The dual-motor variant with Pilot Pack driver aids starts at $74,900. A range of option packages add premium features like a Brembo performance braking system, 22-inch forged wheels, heated seats and steering wheel, head-up display and more.

Production for North American markets is slated to begin in the third quarter of 2024, and according to Polestar executives, the first customer deliveries are expected in Q4.
