Polestar Space retail stores will open in three locations across Canada in 2020.
Two authorized service centres will also open in the country.
Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 are the brand’s first models on sale.
Swedish brand Polestar has just confirmed where its first retail stores, or what it calls Polestar Spaces, will open across Canada.
In the second half of 2020, a Polestar Space will appear at 55 Avenue Road in Toronto, which the brand touts as one of the city’s “most elegant shopping and dining areas.” The neighbourhood indeed features a slew of upscale restaurants, jewellery stores, clothing shops, salons—and a Ferrari dealership.
Another Polestar Space will open at 827 Seymour Street in Vancouver, in “the centre of Vancouver’s business district.” This area features plenty of clothing stores, a ballroom, theatres, and other social gathering spots.
A third Polestar Space will welcome customers at 1255 René-Lévesque Ouest in downtown Montreal, which will be surrounded by shopping malls, restaurants and hotels, in addition to being located a stone’s throw away from the Bell Centre.
The electric performance brand will also open Authorized Polestar Service Centres in Victoria, B.C. and in Waterloo, Ontario.
“95 percent of Canadian Polestar owners and reservation holders live within the 240-kilometre home delivery range of these Polestar retail Spaces,” stated Hugues Bissonnette, Head of Polestar Canada. “With this coverage, plus the two additional service centres, we are confident that the Canadian market will be well-supported from day one.”
These Polestar Spaces will be established with the collaboration of Grand Touring Automobiles, which already exploits several luxury-brand dealerships across the Greater Toronto Area, and the GAIN Group that operates a host of mainstream and luxury brand dealers in Victoria and Vancouver, in addition to owning resorts and the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit.
Two models are currently offered. The Polestar 1 high-performance plug-in hybrid coupe boasts 619 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, along with a 34-kWh battery pack that provides an EV driving range of approximately 60 miles or 96 km. It starts at $197,000 in Canada. The Polestar 2 is a compact-sized, fully electric five-door hatchback with 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque, while its 78-kWh battery allows for a driving range estimated at 275 miles or 440 km. It starts at $69,900 and will rival the Tesla Model Y.
Interested customers who live within 240 kilometres of a Polestar Space can benefit from a concierge service and have their car delivered to their doorstep, and picked up for servicing. Buyers outside of these areas will be able to work out a solution with the nearest Polestar Space, but the company states that their vehicles are available for sale in delivery across the country.
