Polestar wants to expand its market footprint

  • Will Polestar follow this new model in North America?

  • Only Sweden and Norway have switched to this new model.

The small Swedish-born manufacturer Polestar has confirmed its intention to expand its commercial footprint and retail operations within its existing markets. Polestar also intends to pursue its penetration of new markets, especially with an ever-expanding range.

On the European continent in particular, Polestar wants to move to a non-authentic agency sales model. However, it will still be possible for customers interested in the brand’s products to order their next vehicle via the brand’s website, or even in the manufacturer’s establishments and service outlets.

The first European markets to switch to a sales model without an original agency are Sweden and Norway, and Polestar has confirmed that other major markets will follow this new approach.

In fact, Polestar intends to accelerate its geographic expansion by entering seven new markets by the end of the year. From that list, France is the one with the largest market volume for electric cars. Polestar will also extend its network to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Thailand and Brazil.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, said: “Expanding our retail operations with new and existing partners will enable us to reach more customers. Through these partnerships and expansion, we will capitalize on the strength of our brand and our growing model range.”

It will be interesting to see how Polestar adjusts in an automotive industry that is increasingly virtual and less inclined to pursue the methods of the past.
