Porsche Adds Three New AWD Variants to its 911 Lineup For 2026

Three new all-wheel-drive 2026 Porsche 911 models gain more power and refined standard equipment.

  • New Carrera 4S variants boost output to 473 hp with enhanced AWD and revised styling.

  • Porsche celebrates 60 years of the 911 Targa with updated design and automatic roof.

  • Canadian pricing starts at $173,400, with customization options across all new AWD models.

Porsche has added to its 911 range by introducing three new all-wheel-drive models for 2026: the Carrera 4S Coupe, Carrera 4S Cabriolet, and Targa 4S. The additions bring the total number of AWD derivatives of the sports car to six, arriving in the same year that marks the 60th anniversary of the 911 Targa.

The new Carrera 4S variants adopt the updated drive system found in the Carrera S. Powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine, output rises to 473 horsepower, an increase of 30 horsepower over the predecessor. An eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) directs power to all four wheels. The Carrera 4S Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds when equipped with the Sport Chrono Package, reaching a top speed of 308 km/h.

Though fitted with all-wheel drive, the 911s feature a rear-biased setup. The Porsche Traction Management system adjusts torque to the front axle as needed to enhance traction and stability. A water-cooled clutch in the front differential is controlled electromechanically, with slight adjustments to the gear ratio compared to previous models.

In Canada, buyers of the S variants of the 911 frequently select all-wheel-drive configurations, drawn by the added confidence in varying weather conditions. The 911 Targa continues to be offered solely with all-wheel drive.

The introduction of the new Targa coincides with the 60th anniversary of this body style, which first appeared in 1965 as a response to safety concerns around traditional convertibles in the US. The original Targa featured a removable roof and folding rear window. Since 2006, all Targa models have come exclusively with all-wheel drive, and since 2014, the roof is fully automatic roof and opens or closes in 19 seconds. The current roof module is available in black, blue, red, or brown.

Standard equipment across these new models now features 20/21-inch Carrera S wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, a sports exhaust system, and the braking system from the GTS models, with 408-millimetre front and 380 mm rear discs. The 911 Targa 4S also comes standard with rear-wheel steering, a must for all cars. Interiors include leather upholstery, matrix LED headlights, wireless smartphone charging, and a range of driver assistance systems.

In Canada, the 2026 911 Carrera 4S starts at $173,400. The Cabriolet is priced from $187,700, while the Targa 4S begins at $189,600.
