Porsche to offer 11-kW inductive EV charging system with Cayenne Electric from 2026.
Charging plate allows contactless energy transfer at 90% efficiency using magnetic induction.
System integrates app support, auto-alignment, and weather-resistant hardware for outdoor use.
Porsche will introduce an 11-kilowatt inductive charging system for EVs, beginning with the upcoming Cayenne Electric, scheduled for a late 2025 premiere. The contactless solution eliminates the need for cables or wall boxes and should enter European markets in 2026.

The new Porsche Wireless Charging system uses a floor-mounted one-box unit that houses all components, excluding the supply cable. Once installed in a garage, carport, or outdoor space, the floor plate allows the vehicle to charge automatically when parked over it. Charging begins without user intervention, supported by object detection, motion sensors, and vehicle-lowering functionality.
With a transfer efficiency of up to 90 %, the system matches conventional wired AC charging performance. The vehicle’s receiver unit, located in the underbody between the front wheels, communicates with the base plate over a short distance. A special Surround View parking mode and app integration help ensure accurate alignment. The Cayenne Electric will also support high-speed DC charging of up to 400 kW when on the road.

Porsche confirmed that the Cayenne Electric will be the first model with optional factory-installed compatibility for wireless charging. Hardware includes the necessary underbody receiver and pre-installed software features. According to company data, 83 % of Porsche EV customers in the U.S. charge at home. This feature has potential for widespread adoption.
The technology relies on a copper and ferrite transmitter coil in the base plate, which generates a magnetic field through alternating current. A secondary coil in the vehicle receives this energy, which is converted into direct current and stored in the battery. Ultra-wideband positioning helps align the vehicle over the floor plate, signalling the driver when the correct position is achieved.

Porsche stated that the floor plate, measuring 117 by 78 centimetres and weighing 50 kilograms, is weatherproof and suitable for outdoor use. It is CE and UL certified to meet both EU and U.S. regulatory standards.
A prototype equipped with the wireless system and a specially designed fluorescent paint finish will be displayed at the 2025 IAA MOBILITY in Munich. The electroluminescent coating, created by Style Porsche, uses over 25 ultra-thin layers, including conductive, electrode, and colour-pigment layers, as well as more than 15 clear coat layers. When powered, the paint emits coloured light in tones ranging from blue to violet.
