Porsche Sells Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group Stakes

Porsche will offload its Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group stakes to a HOF Capital-led consortium, pending regulatory approvals

  • Porsche is selling its 45% Bugatti Rimac stake to a HOF-led consortium.

  • The transaction also includes Porsche’s 20.6% holding in Rimac Group.

  • Rimac Group is expected to control Bugatti Rimac after the deal closes.

Porsche will be fully exiting its equity positions in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group through a sale to a consortium led by New York-based HOF Capital. The deal is significant as it involves one of the auto industry’s most exclusive performance brands. Bugatti Rimac combines Bugatti’s ultra-luxury hypercar business with Rimac’s high-performance EVs and technology operations.

The transaction agreements were signed April 24. Closing remains subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals, with completion expected before the end of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The sale covers Porsche’s 45% stake in Bugatti Rimac, the joint venture created with Rimac Group in 2021 to house the Bugatti brand. Rimac Group currently owns the remaining 55% of Bugatti Rimac. Porsche will also sell its 20.6% holding in Rimac Group.

The buyer group includes BlueFive Capital as its largest investor, along with institutional investors from the U.S. and EU. After the transaction closes, Rimac Group is expected to take control of Bugatti Rimac and establish a strategic partnership with HOF Capital and BlueFive Capital.

HOF Capital is also set to become the largest shareholder in Rimac Group alongside founder Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac.

Porsche said the divestment reflects a renewed focus on its core business. Porsche has been under serious pressure after operating profits fell sharply in 2025, due to weaker demand in China, U.S. tariffs, EV-related challenges, and other cost pressures.

Porsche CEO Michael Leiters said the company helped establish Bugatti Rimac and supported Rimac Technology’s development into a Tier 1 automotive technology supplier. He added the sale allows Porsche to concentrate on its main operations.

Mate Rimac said Porsche had been an important partner in establishing Bugatti Rimac and that the new ownership structure would allow the company to move more quickly on its long-term plans.
