Porsche is growing its 911 GT range with a new open-top variant for 2027, with the 911 GT3 S/C. For the first time ever, Porsche has paired its inimitable naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six from the 911 GT3 with a two-seat convertible body. This new 911 drop-top will be offered in Canada from $313,300, with arrivals expected in fall.

The GT3 S/C, short for Sport Cabriolet, is positioned as a series-production alternative to limited-run models such as the gorgeous 2019 911 Speedster. Unlike the earlier car, this version uses a fully automatic convertible top and is not limited to a fixed production volume. It is, however, the only open-roof version in the current 911 family configured strictly as a two-seater.
Power comes from the naturally aspirated 4.0L six-cylinder boxer engine rated at 502 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. It is bolted exclusively to a 6-speed GT Sport manual transmission using a short final-drive ratio. Porsche lists a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a top track speed of 313 km/h. The engine revs to 9,000 rpm.

The car also borrows extensively from the 911 S/T parts bin to reduce mass. Carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic is used for the hood, fenders and doors, while additional carbon-fibre components appear in the form of the rear anti-roll bar, connecting links and rear underbody panel. Standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes save more than 20 kg compared with cast-iron hardware, and centre-lock magnesium wheels reduce unsprung weight by almost 9 kg compared with aluminum alternatives. Porsche quotes curb weight at 1,497 kg.
Chassis specifications closely follow those of the 911 GT3 Touring Package, including a double-wishbone front suspension, another first (for an open-top 911) and standard 255/35 ZR 20 front and 315/30 ZR 21 rear tires.

The roof system is one of the central aspects of this package. It consists of a lightweight power-operated top with magnesium structural elements, allowing a coupe-like profile while preserving automated operation. The top opens or closes in about 12 seconds, and the car also includes an electrically operated wind deflector.
Inside, the GT3 S/C keeps the focus on lightweight materials, with standard equipment that includes four-way black leather-trimmed Sport Seats Plus. Buyers can add folding lightweight bucket seats with carbon-fibre seat shells, while a new optional Street Style Package introduces unique exterior graphics, special colour treatments and a more elaborate two-tone cabin finish.
