Porsche takes a significant stride towards electrification infrastructure with the launch of its first Porsche Charging Lounge, located near Bingen am Rhein in Germany. As part of its ambitious plan to establish fast-charging stations along Europe’s major routes, Porsche aims to deliver a premium charging experience that aligns with the brand’s reputation. The new Charging Lounge, acting as a pilot site, features six 300-kW DC fast-charging stations and four 22-kW AC charging points, catering to all electric and plug-in hybrid models from Porsche.
Strategically positioned close to busy routes with high traffic flow, the Charging Lounge operates 24/7 and ensures quick and efficient charging performance, addressing the needs of Porsche drivers on long journeys. The high-performance chargers, developed by the South Tyrolean electronic specialist Alpitronic, currently offer a maximum of 300 kW but have the potential for future upgrades to reach charging speeds of 400 kW per charging point. Importantly, the charging processes rely on power generated from certified renewable sources, contributing to Porsche’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, highlights the brand’s ambitious electrification path, aiming for over 80% of delivered cars to be all-electric by 2030. The establishment of exclusive Porsche Charging Lounges plays a crucial role in creating a high-performance and dense fast-charging network, supporting this electrification mission. These lounges become part of the IONITY network, offering barrier-free and state-of-the-art charging facilities.
Distinctive in design, the Charging Lounge at the pilot site in Bingen showcases a preview of future designs. A floating, slim roof connects the charging points to the building, while floor-to-ceiling glazing enhances the seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors. The use of bright colors and light wood creates a welcoming atmosphere for drivers during their charging experience.
Moreover, the first Porsche Charging Lounge is equipped with sustainable features, including a heat pump that operates without fossil fuels for heating and air-conditioning. A photovoltaic system on the roof contributes to the power supply, alongside a digital building management system that optimizes electricity consumption. Modern sanitary facilities, a variety of refreshments, and a selection of interactive amenities, such as a smart mirror for workouts and interactive Porsche content, enhance the comfort and convenience of the lounge area.

Integrated into the Porsche Charging Service, the Charging Lounges are accessible through the navigation system, with central billing managed by Porsche. Porsche ID holders can access both the charging stations and lounge area with ease. Automatic number plate recognition enables seamless entry for vehicles linked to a Porsche ID, while customers can also use a Porsche Charging Card or the MyPorsche app’s QR code for access.
Alexander Pollich, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Deutschland GmbH, emphasizes the importance of the Porsche Charging Lounge in creating a convenient charging experience for customers. The introduction of this new format offers customers a touchpoint along their journey towards electrification and sets a new standard for premium charging services. Porsche looks forward to receiving feedback from customers on their experiences with the Porsche Charging Lounge as it continues to expand this innovative concept in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
