The anticipated extended-range and more powerful 2019 Nissan LEAF PLUS will start at $43,998 which makes it something of bargain.
All electric car segments are on fire, or at the very least, the bed of coals is red hot and the flames are a coming. By announcing that the new 2019 Nissan LEAF S PLUS starts just under $44,000 will certainly send some competitors a blazing.
We’re thinking very specifically of the Chevrolet Bolt which, until now offered the most range relative to price. This has all changed now. With the 62-kWh battery pack, the LEAF S PLUS’ electric autonomy has climbed to a projected 363km, or exactly 20km shy of what you get with the $46,945 Bolt. The SV and SL are rated at 349km.
And that’s not all as the more powerful electric motor now produces up to 214-horsepower, or 14 more than the Bolt. The Nissan LEAF now packs a standard new 100kW capacity quick charging system for quicker charges.
The best-selling Nissan LEAF, and the winner of a comparison test we did last year, will continue to be extremely popular thanks to the added confidence delivered by the bigger and more powerful electric motor.
For those interested, the grade-walk is as follows:
– S PLUS: $43,998
– SV PLUS: $46,598
– SL PLUS: $49,498
